For each serving:
2 slices bread
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 slice American cheese
3-4 tablespoons sharp cheddar cheese, grated
Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions
Cut crusts off of bread (if desired). Butter one side and cover with 1 slice of cheese. Top with another slice of bread. Season with salt and pepper (sprinkle with green chilies if desired). Beat egg with milk. Pour over bread and let stand overnight in refrigerator. Next day, sprinkle top of mixture with grated cheese. Bake at 350° for 50 minutes. It is done when a knife come out clean.
